What Is This?

The Love Count is a Twitter app that promotes love by aggregating the number of times the word love is used in a day, every day and sharing that number with followers. Love is counted in all of Twitter’s 28 languages and the number is constantly updating in real time. Statistics are tweeted via @TheLoveCount.

Why?

We hope the love count encourages more people to practice love and kindness on social networks and in online marketing. Our vision is a web that promotes love, community, and personal development.

How?

The app is programmed in Ruby using Rails and TweetStream to digest Twitter's streaming API. If you're inclined, use the code to track any Twitter search query. The code is open sourced on GitHub.
